World Mental Health Day 2020
« on: October 10, 2020, 04:10:16 am »
TangoWorldWide has set forth since day one to be something more than your average online gaming community. To have long-lasting connections, a place to make friends, a place to express yourself, and a place to be welcome. Over the last few years our community has had its' ups and downs, members have come and gone but we've always wanted to provide stability, and a constant in people's lives during trying times. This year is no different.

We wanted to bring awareness to Mental Health for World Mental Health Day 2020. Many of us struggle with mental health problems. From depression, to anxiety, and that list goes on. Our goal today is to bring acknowledgement to the problem(s) many of us struggle with, and have an open discussion for people to share their experiences, coping mechanisms, and what helps them in their everyday life. Many of us are struggling right now, with lock-downs, quarantined, and lacking human contact more than ever. Now is a time to speak up and speak out about mental health problems that you might be struggling with.

In addition, we want to collectively provide resources to critical hotlines and websites to assist in Mental Health issues. We want to be pro-active and raise awareness and acceptance in our community for those who struggle with mental health. It is crucial to deal with problems as they arise, and we will regularly acknowledge these things and open the door for discussions for future national and world-wide events to keep a constant conversation with our community. We never want to be too late, or have not provided enough to our members.

I know that a lot of people here, including me, have had a long history of mental health problems. From attempting suicide when I was only 12 to a physical fight with a guidance counselor over them telling my parents, I've seen every corner. Luckily, I found an amazing group of people both in person and virtually on my computer than have helped me and taught me coping mechanisms.

Some things that worked for me that I hope work for you include
 * Take medication when it is at its worst.
 * Don't be afraid to tell people, you won't be dropped off at a mental hospital unless you are an active danger to yourself.
 * Staff members here at Tango can help put you in the right direction.
 * Listen to online psychology lectures about depression or read about it so you can truly understand it.

To this day, I still have days where I will sit down from morning to sunset and do nothing but think. Once you truly take that amount of time to explore your mind, you know how to handle yourself. It sounds stupid, but this is something that I feel like really helped me. During my temp leave from Tango in 2019, I was actually in the hospital recovering from my second suicide attempt.

You aren't alone here in Tango, we know how you feel and I'm all ears if you need someone who will just listen. Feel free to add me on discord (aycliffe #3601) and we can talk for as long as you want whenever you want.

I love you guys, keep your heads up.

+Vouch he will go far in Tango.
Why do you prefer playing CT over T? : Terrorists are fucking worthless brainded scumfuck bastard pile of trash mental dickface that should be gunned down in the street prison like the degenerates they are and I like putting them in their place

Might as well kick this off with a bang since I’m up there with some of the “infamous” people with my shitty moments through Tango's lifetime. For those who know me, I’m Jordan, but I go by Jorbage, and I’ve had a few other names with the most notable being Sydney. But for those who don’t actually know me, it’s honestly probably for your benefit to keep it that way.

Part of the reason why I was a shit person before and still kinda am as much as I try to deny it is mostly due to mental health which I’ve struggled with for over 10 years. As I get older somehow something fucks it up whether I’m in control of it or not. Growing up I was raised in an emotionally abusive and poor household. This was especially prevalent when I joined Tango which stunted how I was in Tango originally. I was a stupid fucking kid that burned probably too many bridges.  I was a toxic and edgy fucking idiot because it seemed like the best thing for me to do which was fucking stupid. It's how I let steam out from my normal life. Because of this, I want to apologize to balon and the old ownership/ higher-ups for how I was when I was actually active.

Continuing on to today I'm still severely depressed and emotionally stunted. While I have friends around I truly feel lonely because I struggle to build and maintain emotional connections. I struggle to feel anything towards people, and even towards the little family that I can still consider as my family. I've made multiple suicide notes which thankfully I haven't needed to keep around, but I'm somehow holding on. I've been trying to somehow become happy which is how I found a passion for fitness which is keeping me going. I still got a lot of work to do on myself but hopefully I can show it sometime in the future.
haha :?

Figure this is a good thread to mention www.healthygamer.gg
(ty lymbo for sending me one of his vids)

Skip past the cringey phrasing on the site, you can watch a licensed psychiatrist's (Dr.K) lectures & interviews with various twitch streams regarding mental health within the gaming/twitch community; I know jorbage has linked a video of his before in discord + I've linked his stream once or twice, but his content is definitely considering if you're a fan of any twitch creators or dealing with any of the topics he covers (i.e. social anxiety, laziness, sexual assault, harrassment, depression etc)

Thanks balon for recognizing people with mental health. Something that triggers me so much is when people fake having mental health issues for views, money, or clout. If your doing that just stop, it's disrespectful to the people who actually have problems and your just being a dick. But thanks for making this more aware.
You gotta understand that all of the cells in a human body die out in a few years, so those messages are not even me on God.

Just wanted to start this off by saying thank you to this community and everyone in it. Without Tango I wouldn't be alive today, and even though I struggle everyday this community and the people in it make life a bit more bearable. I also want to thank everyone who tries their hardest to make sure even though I barely talk I'm always included in things, it's hard for me to talk because I usually don't have the energy and talking makes me have panic attacks most of the time. Thank you to the people who pop into my channel on the daily to just say hello or ask me if I would like to join a game with them like Among Us or Phasmophobia, I struggle with thinking everyone hates me and that when i'm talking to someone or hanging out that i'm being a burden. I'm also sorry to all my friends I go weeks without talking to, I struggle with starting conversations and keeping a conversation going these days. Also a huge thank you to balon, he deals with the brunt of my mental health issues and does whatever he can to understand and help the best way he knows how, i know it's a bitch to deal with all the time and I appreciate it immensely. I love you all.

My GAD, panic disorder, depression, and C-PTSD have been absolutely kicking my ass lately but i'm managing, one diet coke at a time. ( ´ ꒳ `∗)

TLDR:  You're never alone in what you're going through, me and everyone in Tango is here for you and chances are some of us are going through the same things.
If anyone is feeling down and need somewhere to just sit and hang out I have a channel in discord (flower), or you can add me on discord (bribalon#0306) if you ever need to talk or vent or if you just want a friend.
