What is Mentor?Today marks the release of the Mentor. Mentor is a program that takes inspiration from the former the Mentorship and Community Leader groups. Mentor is a group designed for those who wish to help out other members of the community while also having clear progression that allows them to obtain the skills needed to climb to higher ranks. All ranks in Mentor can only be earned through the previous rank this is to ensure those who hold the higher ranks have the proper skill sets and experience needed to fulfill their role.
Ranks are divided into 4 sections, Trial, Community, Administrative and Staff. The ranks are designed to teach you the baseline needed to succeed in the following position. Trial Mentor teaches you about community outreach and how to recruit members into to the community. Community Mentor expands on this by focusing on community retention and identifying problems within the community. Administrative Mentors have both the communication skills of a Community Mentor but also use their skill set as an admin to ensure admins are comfortable on our servers.
Why will Mentor Succeed?Mentor is designed with members in mind not what will make my life the easiest. Ranks in Mentor can only be obtained by being promoted from the previous Rank. While giving positions to those who currently hold important roles in other parts of Tango is a good way to fill up ranks it can make people trying to climb from lower ranks feel cheated and also fills positions with Mentors who don't understand what it is like to hold a lower rank within the group. Mentor strives to be a rewarding group environment where you know your hard work will not be going to waste. This vision will be upheld even if that means I would need to put in more work or have fewer members in the group.
How to Apply?Applications for Trial Mentor are already open and you can apply today! All information on how to apply can be found in the following
thread. All applications will be processed on April 8th and will continue to be processed each Sunday or Early Monday. Due to Mentor being brand new this is the best time to apply as all positions are currently available to be earned through your performance in Mentor.
What does Mentor mean as an Admin?Administrative Mentor is a program for new, struggling or admins who simply want to learn. The Administrative Mentor spots are limited to ensure our server admins are trained not only by experienced Admins but also individuals who have the ability to guide others. Unfortunately as a result of keeping the position exclusive we are unable to accept all training requests until members have time to work through the ranks. this thread. Administrative Mentor works along side Div Staff and IA to ensure that admins are being properly trained and are staying up to date on the rules.
