Alright, I weigh around 360 pounds and have horrible blood pressure and could basically die of a heart attack at some point in the next year. My goal for the next 2-3 months is to lose 150 pounds I'm young so I think I can do it but I need tips and things I should do to help me out so I came to tango because fuck googling shit. Anyway please leave suggestions down below and help a brother out I know it will be hard but I am determined.

Right, I'm skinny so take what I say with a grain of salt as I don't have experience, but I do play football and am involved in working out, maintaining a good diet, etc, so I do have a good idea of how losing weight would work.

First things first, drink LOADS of water. It will diminish your appetite without making you feel hungry. Actively do as much cardio as you can, but not where it becomes dangerous. Eat a meal daily, or every other day, and make sure it is balanced.

Drink a fuck ton of water for the reasons Ayecliffe said, and try not to snack. Save your calories for meals.

If you do need to snack eat something low calorie like fruit

If he has a medical condition, drinking a fuckton more water doesn't magically make him lose 150 pounds, that's just asinine. He needs to speak to a medical professional, or at least someone who is certified in dealing with these sorts of issues, not some kid online.

I understand that, but as someone who struggles with depression, I know what it's like talking to your parents about something that makes you vulnerable. I can tell you right now he doesn't want to, and I want to provide as much support as possible. Regardless, this doesn't need to turn into an argument thread, instead we can both support him from different perspectives.

Take useless sugar out of your diet, like soda if you drink it. (and yes, replace that soda with water.) Water, walks/joggs, and more sleep are just step 1

Only drink water, try to eat less fat,sugary,salt food, try to eat more greens, try to do some cardio whenever you can even if it's just a short walk.

And also 150 pounds in 3 months is a lot to lose that's almost half your total body weight, make your goals more realistic and be happy and motivated with all the progress you make.

1. Stay very hydrated (get a big water bottle and fill it with only water, nothing else)
2. No bread (bagels etc. rice is ok but no tin big portions) NO ALCOHOL its the diets devil
3. There is no way you will get the nutrient you need if you don't eat things like meat. (it's possible but not as good than with meat)
4. If a diet is something that is super stressful put things you like into but it can't be cheating the diet. I love red pepper flakes
5. If you end up asking yourself if the food is ok on the diet it's probably not.
6. To see real differences you have to work out that's either running or even doing exercises in your room (no protein shakes protein foods)
7. The seconds you start cheating on it you go right back to the beginning so no ice cream or sweats and cut down on the salt.

Worked for me so I hope it works for you, it's tough but if u put your mind to it you'll be happy.

Best bet is to talk to a professional who can help in a specific area for your diet. Maybe some of these tips would help, but it only based on certain people.

I grew up with a mother who was fat and took a lot of exercise science classes, so I can tell you a thing or two. With that being said, sometimes losing weight isn't a matter of simple science as you could have underlying health issues that cause problems, so in this regard it's important to speak to a nutritionist about it. As an example, I have acid reflux and part of not feeling bloated all the time means I have to avoid simple carbs. Anyway, moving on.

Losing weight is the simple fact that you have to burn more calories than you intake. It's the simple equation of calories in, calories out. Even sitting around all day, your body burns a certain amount of calories to keep functioning. You can calculate your daily intake here: https://www.freedieting.com/calorie-calculator

Realistically, the goal is to undershoot your daily caloric goal by about 200-300. Every 1500 calories you cut out is 1 pound of fat. This is where it's important to mention that losing weight is a marathon, not a race. Any medical professional worth half their weight in salt will tell you the most effective and safest way to lose weight is about 1-2 pounds a week. You could technically lose more weight, say, up to 7 pounds a week, but this has to be heavily controlled and supervised by a trained medical professional. I'm sorry to say, you cannot lose 150 pounds over the span of 2-3 months. It will be a huge mental struggle and an assload of work. Prepare yourself for that, the mental battle is honestly half the battle. In addition, most people who lose weight in an extremely short period of time have an incredibly high rate of gaining it back within the following year.

Once you've got yourself sorted out with your caloric intake, draw up a battle plan. For me, I know I'm more likely to quit my goal towards something if I do it cold-turkey, so if I was in your position, I would start small. Cut out soda and replace it with half water / half juice. Then cut out the chips and replace them with salted nuts. And so on, and so forth. If you know you can quit cold-turkey and start eating lean, do that. Skip the McDonalds and go for the freshii instead, etc, etc.

Another thing you could do is go to the gym. If you do decide to go to the gym (which may demotivate you if you are conscious about your body) focus mainly on cardio. Running a calorie deficit in order to lose weight means you won't be gaining much muscle even if you tried. You cannot build muscle and lose fat at the same time.

Before starting on this journey I just have one more thing to say. In my experience, people use food, especially unhealthy food, as a coping mechanism. God only knows when I feel like shit I'll instantly stop by my McDonalds for some chicken nuggets. The success of these things usually lies in people confronting their relationship with food, what it does for them, and why they eat the way they do. If you confront the root of the problem, everything else falls into place.
