General Discussion / Re: Are you afraid of of giving Feedback
« on: February 11, 2019, 11:44:52 pm »
I feel people should be able to give, real constructive feedback without their charchter being put into question, and insulted. Now if they're just giving non-constructive, useless feedback like "this is bad" then whatever reply they get is at their own risk.

This has been a long time issue with Tango, and one that will not be changed so long as the people who matter have negative opinions on everything Tango related. Without the willingness to trust the community (which is improving) and actively improve the collective community, that stance is relatively firm. The approach being taken, to my current understanding, is that TangoWorldWide as a community needs to better itself. An understandable approach,

One of my goals with cL's restructuring, and specifically the Recovery Team, is to properly receive feedback from those who are afraid on uncertain on their vocalization of feedback, which is why we've begun enforcing policies to accommodate that goal. A lot of members are unwilling, for whatever reason (both positive and negative), to provide feedback to TangoWorldWide, choosing the easy way out. During the recovery process, one of, if not the, primary goal of cL is to take that feedback and report it. Every so often, we go through them and piece together things that may contribute to the betterment of Tango.

Am I afraid of giving feedback? Yes.

  • The perpetual fear of being discredited, trash talked, harassed, insulted. Dog-eat-dog can be a serious issue at times.
  • The fact that dissent is, oftentimes understandably, viewed as criticism, and thus dismissed or delayed, even when it's constructive.
  • Biases held by those above (no, not just you) who are unwilling to see positive change or contribute to it.
  • The fact that oftentimes, feedback responses are either lethargic, instigating, or unclear.
  • Staff (Manager >) are vastly unappreciated, on a near-blanket scale.
  • Lack of transparency from the top down. This is beginning to improve, but it's a slow process.
I'm afraid of giving feedback and having it dismissed out of slight, spite, bias, or being told that it's simply not needed.
Have a concern? Feel free to raise it, and get shut down. Worried about the direction of something? Bring it up, get told that you have no idea what's going on, that it's your problems that cause the issue. Have a criticism? Get flamed, you're not wanted, you're the issue.

All of the above can simply be summarized by one point: there is too much negativity pervading everything that's done. It's a challenging thing to pin down without causing issues, but there is just so much negativity, that it's become difficult to make any positive headway. I'm not 100% on this, but I feel that, since I've come back, TangoWorldWide is viewed as a stagnating community, when there's really so much potential.

Random point. Every question should be answered with an explanation of the logic behind the answer, not just an answer; in the current state of Tango, it just doesn't really feel that way.

At the end of the day, I'm wasting my life away to contribute to an online gaming community, and all of this will return to the dust from whence it came. All that we receive from the experience is that which we make of it. I've come to accept the fact that nothing I do will make a serious impact on the way that things are done, and I feel that alone may be something worth pointing out.

Iunno, just my thoughts.

Seriously it makes no sense as a forum since we have both general discussion and the memes forum. Just fucking move all the posts to general and shutter the board already. It's incredibly vague and confusing as to what posts are and are not allowed in off-topic. Shit like this is disgraceful that he gets a mute because he made a few joke posts. https://tangoworldwide.net/index.php?topic=56344.0

4. balon's example of the "Dream Girlfriend" thread is one of the many instances that members have deliberately targeted staff members on the forums. It wasn't so much to defend a friend, as much as you'd expect. Alex is probably the MOST targeted staff member within the network, and that's basing it off time and activity within the forums, and in his position.
There's tons of people either no longer or still apart of  the network who do not like Alex at all, and will deliberately target or try to harass Alex. I know you've heard me talk about it in the past.
I would contact you on Steam about this, but someone removed me because they didn't like my side of the argument ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This is the only part that just doesn't make sense. People have targeted tina before, and the only thing that was done to help her was taking her nudes off of the forums. People have targeted monkey before by putting her moaning and masturbating as a sound clip on the surf server (no one took that down for months). I get those are extreme cases, but what about normal circumstances like zook or Sunny? These two are both people heavily targeted, yet I don't see anything being done to help them.

Why is it that it doesn't matter if members get targeted, but only staff? I've heard balon say plenty of times that staff and admins should have tougher skin. They should be the ones protecting the members!

I am not going to let people target my Executives after all they've done both for tango, and me. Whether I am "defending my friend" or not is entirely irrelevant. I own the network, and it's rights. I have the say to be able to wipe someone's perks, badges, etc from the network at ANY given moment for ANYTHING. Most communities? Just perma-ban their members when they do something they don't agree with. You both know this is how it is done with other places. Tango has given multiple chances to people from the start, they simply don't learn.

If someone is going to go shit on the COO and Co-Owner of the network; then there is no difference shitting on me. And why am I going to provide a free service for these people to just come and ruin our hard work, constantly give us shit, or have to be pathetic about it? Something has to give.

If I do not stop the people who are doing these things; you begin to have staff feel majorly de-valued. Then they either stop performing, or decide to leave.

How can I force a staff member go to protect a member if them, themselves are getting shit from people for no reason?

I'll give ya guys an honest answer to half of this. Once everyone started dogging me last year for the numerous things. Whether it be the "haHAA you're fat!" or "briana briana briana!!", whether or not they actually had an impact on me (as said a few times, I went to a ghetto public school gl coming up with more elaborate fat jokes :^)), they did make me go "why the fuck am I still running this place for these people?" If I can think that, what do you think people like Alex are thinking? Given, he has not said he is leaving or otherwise offended. But if something like that can discourage me because I feel like the x-hours I spent every week on Tango are worthless, then what will it do to others who do not have a thick skin and can just turn their eye to it?
