Departures / Farewell Tango.
« on: August 09, 2020, 12:23:27 am »
I believe its my time to say now, farewell tango. It was very fun while I was here. I love this community a lot, but as of recently it hasn't been the funnest for me, I'm not sure what it is but tango is not enjoyable has it has been for a long time. I am leaving on a good note and I wish everybody good luck in their future here in tango.

Some very cool people.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

As said before thank you all for the amazing time here at tango, and I wish you all the best!

Departures / Speeding off into the Sunset
« on: June 28, 2020, 06:05:24 pm »
After years of seeing this community grow and being apart of the growth in my own ways, its finally time to part ways. I rather focus more on my life and where I am mentally. Crazy to see how far this community has come and how much it has been a huge part of my life and i couldn't be more grateful for those memories. As of now, I am stepping down from mentor and Veteran Member. So many hours put into Tango and I am starting to feel like I'm trapped. My words can't really describe the feeling. I am pretty loyal but I have been not feeling right about this for some time. Nothing but love for this community. Hopefully by me saying or doing this doesn't burn any bridges, because that was not my intentions but it is how I feel.
I have spent sooooo much time into tango and I kept taking temp leave's with school and work but now that im pretty much settled down, I want to start enjoying my life to the fullest.

I have met so many people whether it be from giveaways, recruiting, or in servers, discord & teamspeak it is unreal. There are so many people I would like to mention and thank but I will do it in the DM's.

@balon You out of all people know how much of a brat I was when we first met. I used to love when we were on Jew break with other old / past members just vibing. It was super chill back then and its crazy to see where life has taken us. Crazy to say that you knew me as a kid into adulthood. Thank you for everything you have done for me and I will always support you, the community and what you believe in. Crazy to see where the community has come and I appreciate every bit of it<3

Accepted / [Accepted] PickolasCage's Mentor App.
« on: June 26, 2020, 12:06:39 am »
1. First Name: Hayden

2. Age: 15

3. Timezone: EST

4. How long have you been an official member?: About 11 months

5. Are you comfortable reaching a weekly recruitment goal?: Yes

6. Were you referred to apply?: Yes, Dr. Brandon referred me to.

7. Do you administrate on any of the servers?: Yes, I am an SA on Jb.

8. What servers do you use and for how many hours each week?: Mainly JB, and I'd say I play for about 10-20 hours each week.

9. What made you apply for Mentor?: What made apply for a mentor is because after being referred I checked it out and decided it would be fun to be apart of this group, helping new players and all. Also I want to be more involved with tango in a good way.

10. Who have you recruited into the community?: As of now, no one.

11. What is the best part of Tango?: The best part of Tango in my opinion is how great the community is, such as the community being friendly. Everyone in this community is always nice to me and makes my experience on the servers enjoyable. I also really like the groups you can be apart of on the forums, it's nice to be apart of a group that shares the same interests as you. I also really like the events portion.

12. What is the worst part of Tango?: The worst part of tango is having to deal with people who are toxic on servers or on the forums. The people that are arrogant and don't seem to understand what they are doing wrong and continue to do it no matter what. Also, people who come on JB, MFK, and leave.

13. What would you change about Tango?: One thing I would change for sure would be to refine the rules on servers a bit. The rules themselves are good, but maybe adding on to some of them or refining them. It always seems that there are ways people try to bend and get past them.

14. What differs you from other applicants?: What differs me from other applicants is that I'm pretty active on the csgo servers, mainly JB, but I'll get on kz from time to time, and when I am on I'm usually nice and friendly towards people. And I would like to expand on that by inviting new people on the server to Tango.

15. Why do you want to see Tango grow?: I want to see tango grow because it has so much potential to expand to a great community and become very popular. I want to help Tango expand their servers on multiple game platforms, like adding more servers or adding servers to new games.

16. If I was interested in joining Tango how would you convince me to join?: I would convince you to join by talking about all the groups and how you could join a group for something that you like. I would also explain how much of a great community tango is and how people should be nice towards them, and if needed I'll be a guide for them and help them out if they need it.

17. To you what is the importance of having the Mentor division in Tango? It's important to have a mentor division because when new players join our servers it's very helpful to help guide them on the road to joining tango/becoming a member of the community. Also, a mentor is very helpful towards people who become admins and might need a refresher or need help with commands and such forth, I would know from experience, that it was very helpful having a mentor.

18. Is there anything else you'd like to add?: I like Pickles!  :D

I've been in this community for quite some time now, and I've loved every second of it! I've had tons of fun being a Web Mod, Supervisor, and Assistant Manager! But now, I think its time for me to hit the road! I hope Tango continues to do well in the future, and I hope to still keep in contact with the friends I've made in this community!

I'll throw some names in here, but I'm 100% sure that I won't be able to list off everyone!
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

There's only one way to end off this post, and that's with tons of little pixel cars!

General / [CS:GO] Combating VPNs
« on: April 05, 2020, 06:17:11 pm »
Some new measures have been put in place to prevent banned players from evading and joining our servers.
  • !vpncheck command.
  • Added a F2P + VPN filter.

!vpncheck
This command is available for admins SA+. It uses an API to check if players are on VPNs, proxies, or otherwise hosted connections.
There are three possible responses which an admin can receive after VPN checking a player.

Good - The player is not on a VPN. They are connecting from a residential or business IP address.
Non-Residential - The player is definitely connecting via VPN/proxy/host. If a player is suspected to be ban evading, you can ban them.
Inconclusive - It cannot be determined if the player is on a VPN, or a good IP address. This means that a positive occurred, but it could be false. Pay attention to these players and handle at your discretion.

The command for this functionality is described below:
Code: [Select]
sm_vpncheck - Checks if a player is using a VPN.
NOTE: Using a VPN is not against our rules. This tool is to help you identify players who may be evading bans.

Player Filter
We will no longer be allowing F2P accounts to connect to our servers if they are using a VPN. Regular F2P accounts will still be able to connect, as will all admins.

The filtering plugin detects if a player is F2P, as well as checks if they are using a VPN. If they meet both conditions, the detection is logged and they are kicked from the server until they turn the VPN off.
This is not 100% accurate, it will not false-positive, but it may miss players on some connections.

A whitelisting feature and cooresponding forum-based web interface has been implemented. Players who require a whitelist will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Thank you to @Caribou for helping me test, @$imon for sending me PIA ranges, and @Adam for the original suggestion.

As always, contact me with any suggestions, questions, or concerns. I will be monitoring for errors, but if you notice something, send me a message.

@$imon
Ensure your admins know they have !vpncheck capability and no longer need to bother us.

Best Regards,
Jordan - Technologies Director

Mentor / Situation References
« on: March 18, 2020, 02:21:12 pm »
Admin Abuse

If another Admin is abusing their power the first thing you should do is to begin gathering evidence. You should then confront them in admin chat not in general or voice chat and inform them they are abusing their permissions. From there you should do one of the following depending on the situation at hand. Use your best judgment each situation varies and you should deviate from what I recommend below if you believe it is beneficial to the server.
  • If the admin is maliciously disrupting the server and has higher immunity than you. Immediately contact the appropriate Staff member to get the admin off the server.
  • If the admin starts to abuse in other ways or did not listen to you. Peacefully continue to tell them what they are doing is not okay while you continue to gather evidence. You should avoid arguing aggressively with other admins as that can disrupt the server more than a minor case of abuse. In addition by continuing to gather the evidence you.
  • If the admin stops and apologizes, save the evidence to either make a report or for the future if you catch them abusing again or if a report is made against them on the forums by someone else.

Arguments

If two or more people are arguing and disrupting the server, you should immediately issue both of them a mute/gag and inform them why that action was taken. Inform them that the server is not the place to argue and that a dispute should be settled in direct messages or on the forums. If after the mute/gag has expired and they continue to argue, follow escalation and issue them both a kick. Continue the following escalation if their argument persists.
  • If two people are arguing over the mic and disrupting the round that is a case of arguing.

DDOS Threats

If a user threatens the server with a DDOS threat immediately issue them a week ban and post a ban extension on the forums. If you can tell the user was very obviously joking, issue them a warning stating the severity of DDOS threats, joking or not. Make clear that continued joking will result in the appropriate ban length for a serious DDOS threat.
  • if a player says either over the mic or in chat something along the lines of "I'm gonna DDOS the server" this would be a prime example of a DDOS threat.

Disrespect

If a player is disrespecting another player and you can tell it's more than a joker and it's disrupting the server. Immediately issue the disrespecting player a mute/gag and inform them why they we're muted/gagged if they continue after they are unmuted/ungagged continue to follow escalation with a kick etc.
  • If you can tell another player has the intention to harm another player through either chat or over mic, this would be an example of disrespect.

Freekill

If you see a player freekill another player ask them the reason for the kill and wait for their response. If it was in fact a freekill 1up the T, if it was intentional slay the CT but if it was an accident, discretion to slay is based on the history of the player and the level of negligence displayed If you didn't see what happened and there are conflicting arguments from the T and the CT try to gather enough evidence from players or admins who saw it.  If you can get enough evidence to prove the ct guilty then act on it but you cannot act on a situation that you cannot prove happened.
  • The warden says jumping is restricted. Then restricts leaving his pointers and a CT kills a T for jumping after a new restriction was set.
  • The warden says taking 3 winners for climb and a CT kills one of the 3 winners.
  • A CT kills a T that's following orders for no reason.
  • A new Player doesn't get a warning shot on an AFK freeze order or on late night.

Mass Freekill

If you see a CT kill 5 or more T's for no reason, that is considered an MFK. You should immediately issue a 300 minute CT ban and a day ban. If it is the CT's third offense, please report the incident here so Internal Affairs or Ownership can increase the ban.
  • A CT guns down an entire stack of 15 T's for no reason is an MFK.

Freeshooting

Freeshooting is when a CT shoots a T for no reason. If the CT does it once the CT should notify the warden and ask the warden to heal the T. If the warden does not heal the T just do /heal and heal the T. If a CT is consistently freeshooting T's and you can tell that the CT does not know the rules go ahead and swap the CT for a few rounds.
  • A CT is attempting to warning shot a T that T stacks up with his teammates and the CT warning shots the wrong T this an example of freeshotting
Hacking

If you suspect a player is hacking. Swap to spectate and watch them and start recording. Once you have enough proof that beyond a doubt they're hacking issue them a one week ban. Then go make a cheating report on that player and let IA/Ownership handle the rest.
  • A player is using an aimbot client to give himself an unfair advantage over other players.
  • A player using scripts to give himself an advantage over other players.
Racism

If you see a player being racist immediately issue them a mute/gag. If they ask why that was issued to them inform them that racism is not allowed on our servers. After the mute/gag expires if they continue to follow escalation and issue them a kick etc. Now racism might not always just be racial slurs. If you can interpret a saying as racist make sure to punish for that as well.
  • A player says a racial slur in chat or over mic this is an example of being racist.
  • If someone says something that is leading up to a slur or half says it that is implied racism and is still punishable.

Spam

Spam can be in chat or over the mic. If you catch a player spamming, issue them either a mute/gag. If they continue after the mute/gag has expired you may kick them also.
  • Chat example: sending the same message or command over and over again.
  • Voice chat example: using a soundboard, making disruptive sounds or simply screaming.

Map exploiting

This is rarer than the others but still there. If you catch a player exploiting the map to beat minigames, like pixel surfing that is just considering cheating the minigame so not slayable but the T can be KOS'ed by the warden. Another type of map exploiting is using glitches to cause lag if you see a player doing this record it get evidence and issue them a day ban then make a report and let IA/Ownership deal with it.

  • A player jumps on the armory tables on clouds to intentionally cause the server to lag.
  • A player pixel surfs to cheat a minigame remember this is KOS'able but not slayable.

Bugs, Typos, & Errors / New 'Advisor Rank' and 'Manager Rank' Typo

  • The starting sentence in each of the Advisor ranks starts out by reading: "The _____ Advisor is a cross-listed rank between Ownership other user obtainable ranks on the roster". There should be an "and" in between 'Ownership' and 'other' for each of these ranks... right?
  • The ending sentence for each of the Advisor ranks (except Community Advisor for whatever reason) ends off by reading: "They attend all Ownership meetings and have direct communication to Ownership channels, and have access to request all TangoWorldWide resources (funding, new servers, etc)." This should be replaced with how the Cummunity Advisor desc. reads by replacing the first 'and' with a comma (as listed above).
  • Each Manager position reads out: "Their job in their secondary position to work with users of the same rank..." This should have an 'is' in between 'position' and 'to' (as shown above).
Feel free to reword these anyway possible, and I may have missed one or two :P I could also just be straight up wrong whenever reading a couple of these in my head! So lmk!

Minecraft / [Guide] [Skyblock] Greenhouses & Different Biomes
« on: January 19, 2020, 04:06:52 pm »
Since the average island has it's biome set to plains, other biomes are needed to acquire items to complete certain challenges.

Greenhouses allow a contained portion of your island to have a different biome.
Using the command /is greenhouse or /is gh will open your greenhouse menu. Different blocks representing the different biomes available.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Once you have decided what biome you need, or would like to create, you need to surround the required blocks with glass. Although greenhouses are quite picky, so you must make sure:
  • The floor & roof are flat.
  • There are not blocks above the greenhouse roof.
  • The greenhouse is a rectangular shape. (No L shapes etc)
  • A hopper must be in a wall or the roof.
  • The greenhouse does not share a wall. (So if greenhouses are next to eachother, there will have to be double glass walls)

If all of those requirements are met, go inside your greenhouse and type /is gh and select the biome you want.
It will either highlight the problem blocks in red, or create your greenhouse. If successful, whenever entering your greenhouse you will receive the message Entering <biome> greenhouse.

If you want it to snow in your greenhouse, it will have to be a cold biome, for example: Cold Taiga Forest.
Placing a bucket of water in your greenhouse's hopper will make it snow every time it rains in the world.

In the different biomes you will be able to farm different kinds of plants with bonemeal, and even get different mob spawns. i.e. parrots in the jungle biome.

Example of a flowery forest greenhouse: (size 2x4)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Example of greenhouses next to one another:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The hoppers can go below the door if you wish, but I personally put them in the walls so I can use less glass.

Hopefully this helps anyone with confusion about how greenhouses & biomes on the server work.
