Back in 2016 when we theorized a rank where you could be apart of TangoWorldWide but not have to wear the tag 24/7; we wanted to target a certain demographic of players in our network. Over 2017, we noticed a failure to successfully get to that target, and that brings the changes to Supporter being announced today.
Supporter was initially thought of for certain types of people of the TangoWorldWide community. We wanted to effectively recruit very specific players from our community for Supporter. The intention was, and will be, to recruit players who are extremely active or engaged with TangoWorldWide but they do not join because of the obligation to wear the TangoWorldWide Official Tag.
Over the course of the Supporter rank being introduced, some did take advantage of this. However, many used it as a way to evade having to have the tag as a member, abused using the supporter group, and it back-fired on us quite a bit. While introducing a group to help this specific group of players and ensure they are more welcomed to TangoWorldWide, many existing users would 'drop to supporter' because they could easily step down, and step back up. This was never the rank's intention and will be dis-allowed moving forward.
The following changes have been made to help better the program:- A user may not apply for, or become, a Supporter if they have been a TangoWorldWide Official Member in the previous 6-months. This is time of departure being approved, or rank being switched to Registered.
- Users must be invited to apply for Supporter by a Staff Member or above, and they must vouch your application validating their invite. The Staff Member must be a staff member at the time of invitation, but not at the time of your acceptance. Staff Members are limited to how many Supports they can invite by an internal number, and can have their invitation canceled by a Supervisor+.
- Guideline: A user who is being invited to Supporter is required to be an active player on our network, and must have been playing our network for at minimal 6 months prior to their invite.
- Supporters will no longer be required to wear the TangoWorldWide tag in our servers. The only time the tag is required in their steam name is when they are participating in any form of an Official Event.
- Supporters will still be considered members, therefore allowed to participate in exclusive member-only events.
- Supporters will still be considered members, therefore allowed to participate in exclusive member-only giveaways.
- Supporters will be allowed to apply for Server-Mod but must progress to an Official Member for SA or A-Team.
- Supporters can be automatically accepted as an Official Member by posting an application, however, they can no longer drop down to supporter without waiting the 6-month period.
- Supporters must still follow the CoCPE or any other form of rules which TangoWorldWide presents to its members.
We believe this is an effective way to have a successful Supporter program. The program in this light will be a group of individuals that support TangoWorldWide and its endeavors but for personal reasoning do not want to commit to wearing the Official tag. These individuals have been around our network for a decent amount of time, and while they do not want to wear the tag should certainly be eligible for member-only giveaways, events, offers, and other functions we may do in the future.
As for the existing members in the Supporter rank... as of posting of this announcement, we are giving them until May 1, 2018 to apply to Official Member. They will by-pass the existing application system and be automatically accepted as a Novice Recruit on the meeting to follow their application being posted. By April 15th we will post a list of existing Supporters who are elligible to stay in the rank if they so wish.
These changes in Supporter will begin immediately, invites will not be allowed to roll out until April 1, 2018.
We hope to see a positive change from this update. We look forward to your feedback in the comments below.
