Stupid Ban Reasons @ CS:GO

@Nisse @RozRocks and I were going through the bans on Sourcebans. A large amount of the reasons for bans are shit. Bye and Meme are not ban reasons. We can do better. We must do better.

Yeah I see a lot of people try to be edgy with their ban reason I just put the actual reason

I'd much rather type bye to a mic spammer than "he mic spammed when the rounded ended 3 times" or even "mic spam". It's faster to type bye, and if you really want to know, just ask the admin.

The difference in time is negligible. It's seriously a difference of less than <1 second. Besides, the time you saved by saying "bye" is time lost when said ban is appealed and you have to explain what rule(s) were broken. Shit ban reasons and banning yourself isn't acceptable.

Yeah, I agree that banning yourself w/ the reason "sleep" (or anything else) is pretty dumb.

As for the ban reason, I can usually tell what they did by the time, and even then it's pretty close that you can tell what type of thing they did.

I just don't think it matters.

I dont care about the time it takes me, I usually say something like "What an idiot; ddos threat" if you threaten to ddos someone or the server. I'll give a real reason, but they deserve my insult

When you don't use legitimate ban reasons it makes us look bad as a community and causes more issues down the line. How would you feel if you just got banned for the reason 'bye' without any context? The person is either going to appeal it or come back and do the same thing since they don't know why they were banned. There is no reason for these types of ban reasons other than lazy or immature staff members.

LOL. If a fucking person got banned, they god damned know why they got banned. We don't have admins fucking banning first-time offense players, they are muting, gagging, kicking, giving warning after warning.

A. They know why they were banned.
B. They are going to get banned again if they do the same shit. That's fine. They got warnings prior to both bans now. It's on the player. Not the "lazy or immature staff members".

What, that the escalation system is a thing? Like if y'all really don't want to put ban reasons/put stupid ban reasons just head over to SNG.

I'm sorry, what?

The whole purpose of putting a ban reason is to eliminate the time it takes to wait on the banning admin to reply to an appeal unless further information is necessary.

How hard is it to understand the concept that people need to stop being fucking lazy and put a good enough reason for their bans?

Holy shit, how is that even arguable?

Tango can't hold itself as a professional community or business if Admins are handing out sloppy ban reasons.. even if it seems like a small thing.

With that said, I'm guilty of handing out dumb reasons like that as well.

What I am saying is yes, it is a bad thing. But I don't think its the end of the world if someone does it. Obviously we should do better. Conman is right in saying people know what they did.

Look at the gmod sourcebans, we cracked down on admins banning for stupid reasons almost a year ago. I challenge you to find a ban in there that doesn't have a proper reason. This is something that can be easily done and should have been done all along. Just because they know why they were banned doesn't excuse the admin from leaving a ban reason.

even if you do but a bye reason, go get someone to fix it for you after. you don't need to just leave it. This bugged me for so long but I just got over caring about it. but I do agree with Stefan.
